There are definite disadvantages to living in a 3rd or 2nd world country. For example, the lack of infrastructure in such regions can cause internet problems, sanitation issues, and potholes (to name a few).
However, the same inhibited economic growth means you can rent a boat for $150 a day and go island hopping.
Three years ago I created a bucket list. On February 18th, 2012 (the day I landed in the Philippines) I scratched ‘Live where there are palm trees’ off that list.
